faq's
Q. The barcode will not print on the label. The ID number is printed with asterisk on both ends.
A. The barcode font is not registered in Windows. Go to your Control Panel. Double click on the folder called "Fonts". Displayed is a list of all installed fonts. The first font listed should be the "3 of 9 Barcode". Double click on this. A sample of barcodes should display. Click [Done]. This font is now registered and should be available to QM. You may want to also register a second font for QM. Double click on Avant Garde Medium BT, and then click [Done]. This font is used on some reports. IF THE BARCODE FONT DOES NOT DISPLAY IN YOUR FONTS FOLDER, you will need to copy the font from the QM folder to your Windows font folder, then proceed with the above process.
You may also need to reboot your system after registering it for Windows to recognize the font.
Q. The left/right alignment of my information on the barcode label is off.
A. The left/right alignment for the label can be adjusted within the printer driver setup.
- Select Start, Printers and Faxes. RIGHT mouse click on the Zebra, and select Properties.
- On the General tab, select [Printing Preferences].
- Click the plus sign next to Paper/Output.
- Click the dimensions for the Paper Size, and select [Customize].
- With the 2.00" x 1.00" label highlighted, in the Paper Margin section (lower right corner), adjust the alignment by either increases or decreasing it by 1/10. For example, if the left margin is currently set for 0.10 and the printing needs to shift to the right on the label, increase the margin to 0.20.
- Select [OK], [OK], [OK].
- Close your printer window.
Q. When I run QuarterMaster it says "Master Key Not Found, In Demo Mode"?
A1. The hardware key (or dongle) must be installed in a USB port on your computer. Windows will recognize it but will ask for a driver to be installed. See the Quick Start Guide that came with your QuarterMaster software package for instructions.
A2. If you have already installed both the key and the driver, and it still displays the above message, you will need to download a new driver directly from the Aladdin site. Follow the instructions below.
Go to www.aladdin.com. Select Support/Downloads, for HASP. You will need the End User Downloads for HASP4. From the list of driver downloads you will select HASP4_driver_setup.zip. Save this file to your desktop. Double-clicking on this file will unzip it and begin the install. Follow the prompts for a typical install.
QuarterMaster Notice:
If you are receiving error messages with numbers such as Error 114, please contact Customer Support for resolution.
Q. Is there a quick way to add multiple identical items into the Inventory data?
A. Yes. Once you have added 1 item, you may duplicate that record quickly by RIGHT MOUSE clicking the "Add Record" plus sign. This will duplicate the displayed record information minus the serial number and ID#. You may need to edit the cost or acquired dates as well. Notes are not duplicated, as they are considered unique for every item. But you can copy and paste notes by using the Windows keyboard commands of Ctrl + C for copy and Ctrl + V for paste.
Q. I have deleted a record, but it still shows in Inventory.
A. When you choose to delete a record in Inventory or Assignments, the record is "flagged" for deletion and is not removed from the data until you Exit from the Inventory or Assignments section. This allows you to recall the record in case it was deleted in error.
Q. Can I import data from a MS Excel spreadsheet or Access database?
A. QM is a relational database, containing multiple tables that are linked through certain functions. Extensive knowledge of field importation is required to insure that the right data goes in the right place. If you have an existing database that you would like integrated into QM, please contact us. We offer the service of converting your data into the QM format, retaining it's integrity and accuracy.
Q. How do I backup my data?
A. If your data resides on a network, most IT's have an automatic backup scheduled. However, if you want a backup of your own, use the [Program Options], [Backup/Restore] function. This provides a quick way to backup your data to the location of your choice. This backup also records the path of where the data resides, so if it requires to be restored, it must be restored to the identical path.
Q. Can I design my own custom reports?
A. Yes. QM offers an export feature to Excel, which will then allow you the ability to design custom Excel reports or import to Access. You are able to filter your QM data first before exporting so that you can get only the data you want.
Q. Can I keep track of and run reports on the history of an item?
A. Yes. QM writes a line of history every time you sign an item in or out. On the Inventory screen, select the [History] button for a detailed report of the usage trail of the item. You can also run a History Report for an Assignment as well, showing the history of everything that person has been assigned and for how long.
Q. How do I see what equipment a particular person has?
A. From the QM Main Menu, select [Assignments]. Find the Assignment record of the person you want. The list of equipment that has been assigned to them, both temporarily and on a long-term basis displays on the grid at the bottom of the screen. To print the list, select the Printer icon button on the navigation bar.
Q. How do I add my logo to the report headings and labels?
A. The default installation of QM has a "placeholder" logo file located in the QM folder called "logo.bmp. If you have a bitmap image of your agency logo, you will want to rename it "logo.bmp and copy it into the QM folder. QM will then use that file to print your logo on the reports and labels. If you have copied it into the proper folder and it still does not print, it is possible that the file size is too large. You will want to reduce the actual size of the image and resave it.
The Users Guide that came with your purchase is comprehensively written and should answer most of your questions.
